LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2021

TO:
Honorable Jeff Leach, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB456 by Lucio (Relating to the donation of juror reimbursements.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to provide that a juror may donate all or a specific amount of the person's daily reimbursement to a veterans county service office established by the county. The bill would provide that the commissioners court of a county cannot consider a juror's donation to the office for purposes of determining the county's budget for the office and that the commissioners may use the donations only to supplement rather than supplant amounts budgeted by the county for the office.

Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
