No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to require the Forensic Science Commission to adopt a Code of Professional Responsibility governing the conduct of persons and entities subject to the Commission's jurisdiction and requires the Commission to consider minimum standards for character and fitness in determining whether to issue a license to a forensic analyst.
Based on the analysis of the Office of Court Administration, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources. In addition, no significant fiscal impact is anticipated for the state court system due to the implementing the provisions of the bill.
