IN RE:
SB500 by Miles (Relating to creating the criminal offense of operating a boarding home facility without a permit in certain counties and municipalities.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code to create the Class B misdemeanor offense of operating a boarding home facility without a permit in certain counties and municipalities.
Local Government Impact
According to the Texas Association of Counties, no significant fiscal implication to Harris County is anticipated. No significant fiscal implication to other units of local government is anticipated.
A Class B misdemeanor is punishable by a fine of not more than $2,000, confinement in jail for a term not to exceed 180 days, or both. Costs associated with enforcement, prosecution and confinement could likely be absorbed within existing resources. Revenue gain from fines imposed and collected is not anticipated to have a significant fiscal implication.
