LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
April 27, 2021
TO:
Honorable James White, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB550 by Springer (Relating to the manner of carrying a handgun by a person who holds a license under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend various sections of code related to the carrying of a handgun by a license holder to provide that a handgun may be carried in a holster, rather than specifically in a shoulder or belt holster.
This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions for criminal offenses would not result in a significant impact on state correctional agencies.
Local Government Impact
According to the Texas Association of Counties, no significant fiscal implication to counties is anticipated.
