IN RE:	SB568 by Huffman (Relating to the prosecution of and punishment for the criminal offense of hindering the investigation or prosecution of certain sexual offenses committed against a child; increasing criminal penalties.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Penal Code as it relates to the criminal offense of failure to stop or report certain sexual offenses committed against a child. Under the provisions of the bill, the offense of both failing to report certain sexual offenses against a child, and hindering the investigation or prosecution of these offenses, would be punishable as a second or third degree felony, depending on the circumstances of the offense. 

This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill addressing felony sanctions for criminal offenses would not result in a significant impact on state correctional populations or the demand for state correctional resources. The Comptroller of Public Accounts indicates the fiscal impact to the state cannot be estimated.
