SB698 by Hughes (Relating to the authority of a court to grant a motion for a new trial in certain criminal cases.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to allow a defendant, at any time during a term of imprisonment, and with the written consent of the district attorney or criminal district attorney, to file a motion for a new trial with the convicting court.
Based on information provided by the Office of Court Administration, no significant fiscal impact to the state court system is anticipated as a result from implementing the provisions of the bill.
