IN RE:	SB699 by Hughes (Relating to a study of the conversion of surface mine pits and quarries to water storage reservoirs in order to enhance this state's available water supply.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the legislature to establish a joint interim committee to study the conversion of quarries and surface mine pits to water storage reservoirs in order to enhance the state's available water supply. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Railroad Commission of Texas, and the Texas Water Development Board would provide administrative support and resources to the committee, which would be required to report its findings and any recommendations to the governor and legislature no later than December 1, 2022. The committee would be abolished and the statute governing the committee would expire on January 10, 2023. 

This analysis assumes that the duties and responsibilities of the bill could be accomplished using existing resources.
