FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 20, 2021

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB735 by Paxton (Relating to the administration of certain drugs by a midwife.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize midwives to administer certain drugs, require them to provide evidence to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation that they are trained to administer the drugs, and require them to take a course in pharmacology and training in the administration of the drugs to renew their licenses. It is assumed that the provisions of the bill could be implemented using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
