LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 17, 2021

TO:
Honorable Richard Peña Raymond, Chair, Senate Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB792 by Campbell (Relating to specialty license plates and parking placards for vehicles of certain disabled veterans.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to authorize a person who is eligible to receive a disabled veterans (DV) specialty license plate and certain organizations that are authorized to register a vehicle with a set of DV specialty license plates to elect to receive DV plates that include the international Symbol of Access. The bill would require the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) to adopt rules for issuing the new specialty license plates authorized by the bill.

Based on the analysis provided by TxDMV, it is assumed the costs of implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources and the issuance of the new specialty plates would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
