LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 5, 2021

TO:
Honorable Joan Huffman, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB985 by Buckingham (Relating to reports by the Public Utility Commission of Texas on the ability of electric generators to respond to abnormal weather conditions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to reports by the Public Utility Commission (PUC) on the ability of electric generators to respond to abnormal weather conditions could be absorbed using existing resources.

The PUC anticipates a cost of $300,000 that would be funded by ERCOT and the non-ERCOT utilities through a PUC order.

Local Government Impact

The fiscal implications of the bill cannot be determined at this time.
