No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Agriculture Code to assign definitions to certain agricultural products and makes it a violation to misrepresent a food product as meeting a standard of identity and requires the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to enforce standards of identify for agricultural and livestock products. The bill would also require TDA to coordinate with the Department of State Health Services or other agencies through a Memorandum of Understanding or interagency contract to enforce these provisions. 

Based on the analysis of TDA and DSHS, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed with existing resources.
