LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 16, 2021

TO:
Honorable Robert Nichols, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1474 by Perry (relating to the I-27 Advisory Committee.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to establish the I-27 Advisory Committee to provide the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) with information and advice on transportation improvements impacting the Ports-to-Plains Corridor. The bill would prescribe the membership of the advisory committee, which would include certain county and municipal officials or the officials' designees. An advisory committee member would not be entitled to receive compensation for service or reimbursement for expenses incurred in the performance of duties as a member of the committee. The bill would require the advisory committee to meet at least twice each fiscal year and at other times requested by TxDOT or the advisory committee chair.

Based on the information provided by TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with TxDOT participation with the advisory committee established by the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
