LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 6, 2021

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1502 by Buckingham (Relating to a determination by the Texas Medical Board of a physician's specialty board certification.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends the Occupations Code as it relates to a physician's specialty board certification.

The bill would require the Texas Medical Board (TMB) to determine if a physician is specialty board certified based upon the physician's initial certification by a specialty board organization rather than the physician's maintenance of their certification after the initial designation.

It is assumed that the bill's provisions would have no fiscal implication to the State or to TMB.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
