IN RE:	SB1696 by Paxton (Relating to establishing a system for the sharing of information regarding cyber attacks or other cybersecurity incidents occurring in schools in this state.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This analysis assumes that the Texas Education Agency (TEA) would leverage resources available at the Texas Information Sharing and Analysis Organization (TxISAO) to meet the bill's provisions regarding the sharing of school information concerning cyber attacks or other cybersecurity incidents with the state. This analysis assumes the cyber reporting provisions could be absorbed using existing state resources.

If a new software application is developed for cyber reporting by schools to the state, TEA estimates the annual cost for a vendor to provide the required services would be $8,000,000.

Local Government Impact

Schools may be required to share information with the state concerning cybersecurity attacks or other incidents.
