LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 29, 2021

TO:
Honorable Dan Patrick, Lieutenant Governor, Senate
Honorable Dade Phelan, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1776 by Campbell (Relating to the display of the national motto and the founding documents of the United States in public schools and the inclusion of an elective course on the founding principles of the United States in the curriculum for public high school students.), Conference Committee Report

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to the inclusion of an elective course on the founding principles of the United States in the curriculum for public high school students and the posting of the founding documents of the United States in public school buildings could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

According to the Texas Education Agency, LEAs could see increased costs associated with training teachers on the founding principles course and with posting the founding documents.
