LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 21, 2021

TO:
Honorable Larry Taylor, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2050 by Menéndez (relating to bullying and cyberbullying in public schools.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

It is assumed that the costs associated with the bill's provisions relating to bullying and cyberbullying in public schools could be absorbed using existing resources.

Local Government Impact

Local education agencies (LEAs) may see increased costs related to updating their student codes of conduct and other related policies and procedures. To a lesser degree, LEAs may see some increased costs related to collecting data on bullying and cyberbullying incidents.
