LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 13, 2021

TO:
Honorable Terry Canales, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB2243 by Hinojosa (Relating to approval for certain projects related to bridges over the Rio Grande.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Transportation Code ยง201.612, regarding a state review process and Transportation Commission approval requirement for construction of a bridge over the Rio Grande, to provide an exemption from the requirements for a political subdivision for a project that is for the reconstruction, expansion, or maintenance of an existing bridge and has received approval from the United States under 33 U.S.C. Chapter 11, Subchapter IV, authorizing the project.

Based on the analysis provided by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), it is assumed implementation of the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to TxDOT or the State.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
