No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.

The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $178,333.

The bill would propose an amendment to the Texas Constitution relating to certain candidates for public office.

According to the Secretary of State, the cost of the bill would be limited to the fiscal impact associated with the constitutional amendment election if this amendment were placed on the ballot.

According to the Texas Ethics Commission, there would be a cost associated with the bill were the amendment to be adopted.  It is anticipated the agency could absorb those costs within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
