LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT STATEMENT

87TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 7, 2021

TO:
Honorable James White, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety

FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3413 by Murr (Relating to occupational driver's licenses; requiring the imposition of a fee.), As Introduced

The provisions of the bill addressed by this analysis would amend the Transportation Code as it relates to occupational driver's licenses. Under the provisions of the bill, it would be an affirmative defense to prosecution for certain misdemeanor driver license offenses that the person applied for and complied with the requirements for issuance of an occupational driver's license as outlined in the bill's provisions.

This analysis assumes implementing the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact on the demand for state correctional resources.
