Pursuant to a notice posted on August 11, 2022, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Murphy, at 10:09 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Murphy; Frullo; Lujan; Ortega; Raney; and Turner, John.

 

A quorum was present.

The committee met jointly with the Committee on Public Education on the following charge:

 

Evaluate the impact of the pandemic on the state’s teacher workforce and current practices to improve the recruitment, preparation, and retention of high-quality educators. Explore the impact of the educator preparation program regulatory environment. Make recommendations to improve educator recruitment, retention, and preparation throughout the state. (Joint Charge with Committee on Public Education)
