Pursuant to a notice posted on September 24, 2021, the House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Raymond, at 2:07 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Raymond; Buckley; Biedermann; Gervin-Hawkins; Lambert; Lopez; Morales, Eddie; and Tinderholt.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

The Committee met jointly with Homeland Security & Public Safety.

 

The chair began the posted agenda of monitoring the activities of the Texas State Guard and the Texas National Guard participating in Operation Lone Star. Considering any legal or logistical support that can be provided to these organizations to increase operational efficiencies in conjunction with the Department of Public Safety. The joint committee reviewed and assessed agency inventories and made appropriate recommendations.
