Pursuant to a notice posted on May 17, 2022, the House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures met in a public hearing and was called to order by the acting chair, Representative John Kuempel, at 10:02 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Kuempel; Geren; Goldman; Guillen; Harrison; Hernandez; Huberty; and Lujan.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

The committee considered invited testimony only on interim charge #2:

Explore opportunities to strengthen and enforce laws to reduce illegal gaming and the proliferation of unlawful game rooms. Identify how cash-paying game rooms utilizing machines commonly known as “8-liners” have been allowed to proliferate and how the comptroller or other state agencies can assist law enforcement with ongoing investigations.
