Pursuant to a notice posted on August 11, 2022, the House Committee on Public Education met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Dutton, at 10:09 a.m.
The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Dutton; Lozano; Allison; Buckley; Huberty; King, Ken; Meza; and VanDeaver.
A quorum was present.
The committee considered interim charge #5:
Evaluate the impact of the pandemic on the state’s teacher workforce, and current practices to
improve the recruitment, preparation, and retention of high-quality educators. Explore the
impact of the educator preparation program regulatory environment. Make recommendations
to improve educator recruitment, retention, and preparation throughout the state
