Pursuant to a notice posted on July 27, 2022, the House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative White, at 9:04 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives White; Goodwin; Hefner; Patterson; and Tinderholt.

 

A quorum was present.

The Committee met jointly with the Committee on Youth Health & Safety, Select to consider the following joint charges on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety:

(Representative Bowers now present.)

 

Charge #5: Study the needs of the state related to mental health professionals, educators, school administrators, and related professionals overseeing youth mental health programs and the delivery of those mental health services.

Charge #4: Examine the role of online communications in mass violence scenarios and identify technological resources and solutions for detecting, mitigating, and reporting threats.
