Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

Senator Johnson called the meeting to order at 8:31 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair laid out SCR 9 and recognized the author, Senator Zaffirini, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Huffman sent up a committee substitute.

 

The chair recognized Senator Zaffirini to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed.

 

No witnesses testified or registered on the bill.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Johnson moved that SCR 9 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 8:34 AM Senator Buckingham assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out SCR 23 and recognized Senator Johnson, in the absence of the author, to explain the bill.

Pursuant to a motion made by Senator Johnson to suspend Senate Rules 11.10 and 11.18 Senator Schwertner reconvened the Senate Committee on Administration at 2:05 PM in E1.714.

 

The chair laid out the list of bills to be recommended for placement on Local & Uncontested

Calendar to be held on April 9, 2021, at 10:00 AM.

 

The Chair moved that the list of bills recommended for placement on the Local &

Uncontested Calendar to be held on April 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. be certified. The motion

carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

There being no further business, at 2:23 PM Senator Schwertner moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
