Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce was held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, in the Senate Chamber.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:01 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

The chair made opening remarks.

The chair opened invited testimony (see attached witness list) for the following purpose:

Discuss the actions taken by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the Public Utilities Commission of Texas (PUC), and other entities to ensure reliability of the electric grid during the 2021-2022 Winter Season, and consider the implementation of SB 3 and related legislation, including ongoing rulemaking and proposed changes to the ERCOT market design.

There being no further business, at 2:27 PM Senator Nichols moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
