Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Local Government was held on Monday, March 22, 2021, in the Ext. Auditorium.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair laid out SB 646 and recognized the author, Senator Schwertner, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Nichols sent up a committee substitute.  The chair recognized Senator Schwertner to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed.

 

The chair laid out SB 796 and recognized the author, Senator Schwertner, to explain the bill.

Senator Bettencourt moved that SB 646 and SB 796 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

There being no further business, at 1:58 PM Senator Bettencourt moved that the Committee stand recessed until 30 minutes after adjournment of the Senate. Without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 2:49 PM Senator Bettencourt reconvened the meeting.

 

At 2:49 PM Senator Nichols assumed the chair.
