NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The committee will meet to adopt rules, organize, and to consider the

following:

 

SB 165         Blanco                 
Relating to an exception to dropped course limitations at public institutions of higher education for courses dropped during a disaster that results in a bar or limit on in-person course attendance.

SB 346         Paxton                 
Relating to the participation of open-enrollment charter schools in the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant Program.

SB 447         Springer | et al.       
Relating to the transfer of Midwestern State University to the Texas Tech University System, to certain fees charged by that system's governing board, and to mandatory venue for actions brought against that system or its institution, officers, or employees.

SB 480         Miles                  
Relating to the student union fee at the University of Houston.

SB 702         Paxton | et al.         
Relating to the continuation and functions of the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board.

SB 788         Creighton | et al.      
Relating to the development of a model data-sharing agreement for sharing student information between public schools and public and private postsecondary educational institutions.

SB 884         Zaffirini              
Relating to the management and operation of a multi-institution health education center in the City of Laredo.

SB 1092        Creighton              
Relating to the disclosure of certain information regarding textbooks and learning content management systems by certain institutions of higher education.

SB 1094        Creighton              
Relating to the payment of apprenticeship education expenses using the state's programs for paying, prepaying, or saving toward the costs of attending an institution of higher education.

SB 1102        Creighton              
Relating to the establishment of the Texas Reskilling and Upskilling through Education (TRUE) Initiative to support workforce education at public junior colleges.

SB 1231        Taylor                 
Relating to certain automatic charges for instructional materials assessed to students enrolled at a public institution of higher education.

Those wishing to give public testimony, please limit prepared remarks to 2

minutes. If submitting written testimony, please submit 30 copies, with

your name on each copy, to the Committee during the hearing.

 

To protect the health and safety of members, staff and the public, the

Senate Higher Education Committee will strictly follow all Senate

rules relating to the pandemic, including the requirement for a negative

COVID-19 test to enter the hearing room.
