R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family, friends, and military personnel gathered in
  Killeen on June 7, 2023, to honor retired U.S. Army Sergeant Tiffany
  Millender for her brave and dedicated service to her country and to
  celebrate her move into a Building Homes for Heroes house; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Millender and her daughter received the
  keys to their new mortgage-free home from Building Homes for
  Heroes, a nonprofit that gifts newly built or modified homes to
  wounded U.S. service members and their families; the organization
  also provides financial planning services through its
  collaboration with the National Association of Personal Financial
  Advisors; and
         WHEREAS, In 2004, Tiffany Millender joined the U.S. Army, and
  she went on to rise to the rank of sergeant; her overseas
  deployments included two tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan;
  while assigned to the 64th Brigade Support Battalion in Iraq, she
  and her unit came under attack from enemy fire that penetrated their
  operating base; and
         WHEREAS, Sergeant Millender later received medical
  retirement to conclude her distinguished 14-year military career;
  among her honors are six Army Commendation Medals, five Army
  Achievement Medals, two Valorous Unit Awards, the Global War On
  Terrorism Service Medal, five Iraq Campaign Medals with campaign
  star, the Expert Marksmanship Badge with rifle bar, and the Driver
  and Mechanic Badge with driver-wheeled vehicle clasp; and
         WHEREAS, Americans owe a profound debt of gratitude to the
  members of the U.S. armed forces who put themselves in harm's way to
  defend our safety, security, and freedom, and Building Homes for
  Heroes is helping to award Sergeant Tiffany Millender the
  appreciation she so richly deserves; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby commend retired U.S. Army Sergeant Tiffany
  Millender for her valorous service to her country and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for happiness in her new home; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Sergeant Millender as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas Senate.
