R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has retired as superintendent of |
|
|
the Somerset Independent School District, drawing to a close an |
|
|
outstanding tenure with the district that spanned two decades; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of the longest-serving superintendents in the |
|
|
region, Dr. Hinojosa began his career with Somerset ISD as a |
|
|
teacher; he previously served as an assistant principal at |
|
|
Southside ISD and as a government and history teacher and football |
|
|
and baseball coach in McAllen ISD; he assumed the role of |
|
|
superintendent of Somerset ISD in 2007, and under his able |
|
|
leadership, the district has overcome numerous challenges to earn |
|
|
an A accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Hinojosa plans to continue his service in the |
|
|
field of education in his retirement; he currently works as a search |
|
|
consultant for Walsh Gallegos, a major law firm that assists school |
|
|
districts across the state in vetting and selecting superintendent |
|
|
candidates; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |
|
|
commitment to excellence, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has helped many young |
|
|
Texans acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed, and |
|
|
his contributions will be remembered and appreciated for years to |
|
|
come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st |
|
|
Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Saul Hinojosa on his |
|
|
retirement as superintendent of the Somerset Independent School |
|
|
District and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Dr. Hinojosa as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
