R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has retired as superintendent of
  the Somerset Independent School District, drawing to a close an
  outstanding tenure with the district that spanned two decades; and
         WHEREAS, One of the longest-serving superintendents in the
  region, Dr. Hinojosa began his career with Somerset ISD as a
  teacher; he previously served as an assistant principal at
  Southside ISD and as a government and history teacher and football
  and baseball coach in McAllen ISD; he assumed the role of
  superintendent of Somerset ISD in 2007, and under his able
  leadership, the district has overcome numerous challenges to earn
  an A accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Hinojosa plans to continue his service in the
  field of education in his retirement; he currently works as a search
  consultant for Walsh Gallegos, a major law firm that assists school
  districts across the state in vetting and selecting superintendent
  candidates; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and
  commitment to excellence, Dr. Saul Hinojosa has helped many young
  Texans acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed, and
  his contributions will be remembered and appreciated for years to
  come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Saul Hinojosa on his
  retirement as superintendent of the Somerset Independent School
  District and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Hinojosa as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
