Rita Lou McCreary |
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |
|
passing of Rita Lou McCreary on June 6, 2023, at the age of 88; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Maude and Oscar Green, Rita |
|
McCreary was born on her family's farm in Fulton, Arkansas, on |
|
February 15, 1935, and she grew up with the companionship of |
|
seven siblings, Ronald, Inez, Farrell, Taylor, Sue, Janice, and |
|
Dixie; after graduating from Hope High School, she attended |
|
nursing school and became a nurse anesthetist; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. McCreary later began working at hospitals in |
|
Dallas, during which time she met her future husband, Howell; the |
|
couple went on to share a fulfilling marriage until Mr. McCreary's |
|
passing in 1999; Mrs. McCreary retired from nursing to raise their |
|
three children, Martin, Stephanie, and Heather, and with the |
|
passing years, she had the privilege of seeing her family grow to |
|
include two grandchildren, Sophie and Stiles; and |
|
WHEREAS, After settling in Gainesville, Mrs. McCreary |
|
became highly engaged in her community; she enjoyed gardening |
|
with the other parishioners at Westminster Presbyterian Church, |
|
and she was instrumental in procuring a location for the ABBA |
|
Women's Center, where she also served as a board member and as |
|
director; in addition, she was a founding member of Cooke County |
|
Republican Women and often gave of her time as a pollster during |
|
elections; her contributions to conservative politics were |
|
recognized in 1992 and again in 1994; and |
|
WHEREAS, Rita McCreary lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|
and she will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who |
|
held her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of Rita Lou McCreary and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn |
|
her passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
|
this day, it do so in memory of Rita McCreary. |
