R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |
|
passing of Rita Lou McCreary on June 6, 2023, at the age of 88; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Maude and Oscar Green, Rita McCreary |
|
was born on her family's farm in Fulton, Arkansas, on February 15, |
|
1935, and she grew up with the companionship of seven siblings, |
|
Ronald, Inez, Farrell, Taylor, Sue, Janice, and Dixie; after |
|
graduating from Hope High School, she attended nursing school and |
|
became a nurse anesthetist; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. McCreary later began working at hospitals in |
|
Dallas, during which time she met her future husband, Howell; the |
|
couple went on to share a fulfilling marriage until Mr. McCreary's |
|
passing in 1999; Mrs. McCreary retired from nursing to raise their |
|
three children, Martin, Stephanie, and Heather, and with the |
|
passing years, she had the privilege of seeing her family grow to |
|
include two grandchildren, Sophie and Stiles; and |
|
WHEREAS, After settling in Gainesville, Mrs. McCreary became |
|
highly engaged in her community; she enjoyed gardening with the |
|
other parishioners at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and she was |
|
instrumental in procuring a location for the ABBA Women's Center, |
|
where she also served as a board member and as director; in |
|
addition, she was a founding member of Cooke County Republican |
|
Women and often gave of her time as a pollster during elections; her |
|
contributions to conservative politics were recognized in 1992 and |
|
again in 1994; and |
|
WHEREAS, Rita McCreary lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|
and she will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who |
|
held her close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st |
|
Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Rita Lou |
|
McCreary and extend sincere sympathy to all who mourn her passing; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Rita McCreary. |
