R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Proud residents of Harris County are celebrating the
  grand opening of the George H. W. Bush Community Center on June 21,
  2023; and
         WHEREAS, Located in the heart of the Cypress Creek Cultural
  District, the 24,500-square-foot George H. W. Bush Community Center
  features a grand hall, a kitchen, a meeting room that seats 700
  people, and classrooms, as well as space for public events and other
  activities; and
         WHEREAS, The facility previously belonged to the Cypress
  Creek Christian Church and dates back to the 1970s, when the Cypress
  Creek Christian Community Center partnered with 24 local nonprofit
  organizations in an effort to provide valuable services to area
  residents and a gathering place for community groups; while the
  center flourished over the next several decades, flooding caused by
  Hurricane Harvey inflicted severe damage on the building in 2017,
  and it was purchased by Harris County Precinct 4 the following year;
  the project was later inherited by Precinct 3 due to redistricting,
  and construction on the new George H. W. Bush Community Center began
  in November 2021; and
         WHEREAS, The George H. W. Bush Community Center will benefit
  the residents of Harris County for many years to come, and it is a
  pleasure to join in recognizing the vision, leadership, and hard
  work that have helped bring this project to fruition; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby commemorate the grand opening of the George
  H. W. Bush Community Center and commend all those involved in the
  establishment of the center for their outstanding efforts; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  Senate.
