R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of William
  Elbert Box of Simms, who passed away on June 5, 2023, at the age of
  84; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Arthur James Box and Azema Chaisson Box,
  William Box was born in New Iberia, Louisiana, on May 18, 1939; he
  grew up with two brothers, Dan and Dean, and two sisters, Ihla Rae
  and Sylvia; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Box embarked on a career in the United States
  military; over the course of 33 years, he served in two branches of
  our nation's armed forces; and
         WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Box was the father of
  four children, David, Randy, Billy, and Cindy; he shared a
  fulfilling marriage with his wife, Edna Delaine Box, until her
  passing on May 16, 2023; he was also preceded in death by their son,
  David; a man of faith, he was a member of Siloam Baptist Church; and
         WHEREAS, Although William Box is greatly missed, he has left
  his family and friends with many cherished memories, and he will
  forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 1st
  Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of William Elbert Box
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
  sons, Randy Box and his wife, Judy, and William E. "Billy" Box II;
  to his daughter, Cindy Moore, and her husband, David; to his
  sisters, Ihla Rae Box and Sylvia Swilley; to his brother, Dean Box,
  and his wife, Gail; to his nine grandchildren and nine
  great-grandchildren; and to his many other relatives and friends;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of William Box.
