R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Jacob Gholston of Flower Mound High School has been |
|
|
named the 2023 Baseball Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning |
|
|
News; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, During his exemplary senior season, Mr. Gholston |
|
|
anchored the Jaguars' pitching staff and helped guide the team to |
|
|
the 6A state championship; in the regional final against Denton |
|
|
Guyer, he delivered a clutch performance, throwing 6.2 scoreless |
|
|
innings as Flower Mound clinched a trip to the state tournament; |
|
|
over the course of the season, he struck out 111 batters in 87 |
|
|
innings while posting an impressive 0.96 ERA and a 12-2 record; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ranked as one of the top 400 prospects in the nation |
|
|
by Baseball America, Mr. Gholston has committed to pitch for the |
|
|
University of Oklahoma Sooners; he has further distinguished |
|
|
himself during his high school years as a member of the Flower Mound |
|
|
basketball team; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has proven himself to |
|
|
be a gifted and dedicated student-athlete, and he may take |
|
|
justifiable pride in his accomplishments as he looks forward to a |
|
|
future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Jacob |
|
|
Gholston on being selected as the 2023 Baseball Player of the Year |
|
|
by the Dallas Morning News and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Gholston as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
