SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize the affiliates of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic |
|
and Academic Development on the occasion of the organization's |
|
30th anniversary; and |
|
WHEREAS, Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic |
|
Development, also known as RGV LEAD, is a Texas nonprofit and |
|
federal 501c3 organization that promotes college and career |
|
readiness and encourages schools, community leaders, and |
|
employers to prepare students for employment and help them |
|
develop the skills and expertise that will prepare them to meet |
|
their scholastic and professional goals; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in 1992 by Patricia Bubb, RGV LEAD builds |
|
partnerships between education and industry to cultivate smooth |
|
and successful transitions between the educational setting and |
|
occupational and professional success; and |
|
WHEREAS, Throughout its existence, RGV LEAD has |
|
collaborated with school districts, colleges, and businesses to |
|
offer career guidance to its students and to equip students with |
|
the skills that will ensure them employment in the area's |
|
workforce; and |
|
WHEREAS, RGV LEAD has led the regional effort to improve |
|
graduation and college enrollment rates, to foster workforce |
|
readiness in graduates and to supply employers with an educated, |
|
skilled workforce; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the partners and |
|
staff of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic |
|
Development on their contributions to higher education and |
|
economic development in the Rio Grande Valley over the past 30 |
|
years; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
