Amend HB 6 (house committee printing) on page 1 of the bill as follows:

(1)  On line 5, strike "APPROPRIATION" and substitute "APPROPRIATIONS".

(2)  On line 6, between "GOVERNOR." and "The", insert "(a)".

(3)  On line 6, strike "$1,500,000,000" and substitute "$1,400,000,000".

(4)  Between lines 10 and 11, insert the following:

(b)  The amount of $100,000,000 is appropriated from the general revenue fund to the Trusteed Programs within the Office of the Governor for use during the two-year period beginning on the effective date of this Act for the purpose of providing grants to counties adjacent to this state's international border with the United Mexican States. Money received by a county as a result of a grant described by this subsection may only be used to:

(1)  hire additional law enforcement personnel;

(2)  purchase equipment for additional law enforcement personnel;

(3)  pay overtime pay for law enforcement personnel; and

(4)  pay for other expenses related to the holding in county jail facilities of individuals unlawfully in this state or the processing of autopsies of individuals unlawfully in this state.
