A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the consideration of distinction designations in the |
|
|
assignment of district and campus performance ratings under the |
|
|
public school accountability system. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 39.054, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (a-6) to read as follows: |
|
|
(a-6) For purposes of assigning an overall performance |
|
|
rating for a district or campus under Subsection (a), the |
|
|
commissioner by rule shall adopt a method for evaluating district |
|
|
or campus performance that provides for: |
|
|
(1) the assignment of a point value to each |
|
|
distinction designation awarded to a district or campus under |
|
|
Subchapter G; and |
|
|
(2) consideration of the number of points earned by a |
|
|
district or campus under Subdivision (1). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2024-2025 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect on the 91st day after the |
|
|
last day of the legislative session. |
