CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Colton Coates received a Judge Pat Baskin Family
  Volunteer of the Year Award at the Beacon Awards Luncheon on
  September 26, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, The Beacon Awards honor excellence in Permian Basin
  nonprofit organizations by recognizing volunteers and staff of the
  local nonprofit sector; the Judge Pat Baskin Family Volunteer of
  the Year Award is presented annually to both an adult and youth
  volunteer in the Midland County community; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Coates is a senior at Ignite Christian Academy,
  and he has served as a Midland Teen Court attorney since his
  freshman year; in the course of his work with the program, he has
  helped mentor fellow court attorneys, and he has gained valuable
  knowledge of the judicial system; this outstanding young Texan has
  further distinguished himself by assisting children with special
  needs as a swim instructor at COM Aquatics, and he has taken part in
  a mission trip to Swaziland and South Africa, where he volunteered
  his time at an orphanage; moreover, he is vice president of the
  National Home School Honor Society; and
         WHEREAS, Inspiring others through his exemplary civic
  engagement, Colton Coates has made a lasting, positive difference
  in his community, and he is indeed deserving of this most recent
  honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 88th Legislature of the State of Texas,
  3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Colton Coates on his
  receipt of a Judge Pat Baskin Family Volunteer of the Year Award and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Coates as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives and Senate.
