R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The observance of Counseling Awareness Month in |
|
|
April 2024 provides an opportunity to recognize the many ways in |
|
|
which Texans of all ages benefit from the work of counseling |
|
|
professionals; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Professional counselors provide a wide range of |
|
|
services to help people overcome mental health challenges and live |
|
|
healthier and more productive lives; they currently make up the |
|
|
largest group of mental health providers in the state, with more |
|
|
than 13,000 Certified School Counselors and 34,000 Licensed |
|
|
Professional Counselors and LPC Associates; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Individuals can access professional counseling |
|
|
services through educational institutions, mental health agencies, |
|
|
community organizations, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, |
|
|
private practices, and other settings; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By empowering people to address their |
|
|
social-emotional needs and achieve their goals, professional |
|
|
counselors play a vital role in strengthening our communities, and |
|
|
it is indeed fitting to honor those who dedicate themselves to this |
|
|
important calling; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize April 2024 as |
|
|
Counseling Awareness Month and commend the state's professional |
|
|
counselors for their exceptional work. |
