R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Hardy Meredith was awarded the title of photographer
  emeritus at Stephen F. Austin State University in 2023, providing a
  fitting opportunity to pay tribute to his career that has spanned
  more than four decades; and
         WHEREAS, A member of the SFA Class of 1981, Mr. Meredith
  started working at the university in 1996, and over the years, he
  served as a guest speaker, classroom lecturer, and judge at
  countless photography contests; his images have been published in
  five books highlighting the school and the Nacogdoches area; he
  retired from his alma mater in 2020; and
         WHEREAS, During his time as a student at SFA, Mr. Meredith
  took pictures for The Pine Log, the school's student newspaper; he
  began his professional career at the Tyler Morning Telegraph, where
  he earned recognition as a sports action photographer and had work
  published by the Associated Press; he went on to serve as chief
  photographer at The Daily Sentinel for more than 14 years and
  continues to work for the paper; in addition, he won the Best of Cox
  Grand Awards on two occasions, and an art show featuring 50 of his
  best photographs was held at the Griffith Gallery; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Meredith enjoys the love
  and support of a fine family that includes his wife of 34 years,
  Jeri, his three sons, and his six grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, For nearly 25 years, Hardy Meredith chronicled the
  people and activities of the SFA community, creating a rich and
  compelling visual record of life in Nacogdoches, and he is indeed
  deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Hardy
  Meredith on being named photographer emeritus at Stephen F. Austin
  State University and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Meredith as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
