R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Former members of the Pasadena High School band are |
|
|
holding a reunion on November 3, 2023, to commemorate the 50th |
|
|
anniversary of their performance in the Orange Bowl Parade; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1973, the Pasadena High marching band received a |
|
|
prestigious honor when it was invited to participate in the Orange |
|
|
Bowl Parade in Miami, Florida, on December 31 of that year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The ensemble garnered widespread attention for the |
|
|
Pasadena Independent School District with its appearance in the |
|
|
nationally televised Orange Bowl festivities, and it was presented |
|
|
with a proclamation from Mayor Clyde Doyal designating May 10, |
|
|
1973, as Pasadena High School Band Day; the 2023 reunion will also |
|
|
serve as a fundraiser for the current high school band; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, As they have gone their respective ways, the members |
|
|
of the 1973-1974 Pasadena High band have continued to cherish their |
|
|
memories of their performance at the Orange Bowl Parade, and it is a |
|
|
pleasure to join in recognizing them for their enduring pride and |
|
|
school spirit; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 50th |
|
|
anniversary of the performance by the Pasadena High School marching |
|
|
band in the 1973 Orange Bowl Parade and extend to the band's members |
|
|
sincere appreciation for their participation in this noteworthy |
|
|
event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
