R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Valerie Arreola of Bob Hope High School in Port |
|
|
Arthur distinguished herself through her participation in the |
|
|
Dartmouth Bound Program at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New |
|
|
Hampshire; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The summer program gives prospective students from |
|
|
historically underrepresented backgrounds the opportunity to |
|
|
experience life at Dartmouth; participants visit the college and |
|
|
learn about its curriculum and admissions process as well as the |
|
|
campus community; in addition, they gain insight into the myriad |
|
|
options for study abroad, research projects, and club activities; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Arreola is currently a senior at Bob Hope High, |
|
|
and she has served as president of the National Honor Society and |
|
|
FFA and as a cheerleader; she is also a dedicated volunteer in her |
|
|
community, and she has been involved in the Interact club; among her |
|
|
many achievements, she was named the Interact Student of the Month |
|
|
for October 2023 by the Rotary Club of Port Arthur for her |
|
|
outstanding service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Valerie Arreola has demonstrated remarkable drive |
|
|
and initiative in working toward her goals, and she may indeed |
|
|
reflect with pride on her accomplishments as she looks forward to a |
|
|
future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Valerie |
|
|
Arreola on her participation in the Dartmouth Bound Program and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Arreola as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
