R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Ashley Jadine Foundation is holding its sixth
  annual Health Fair and 5K Walk in Missouri City on November 4, 2023,
  providing a fitting opportunity to recognize the organization for
  its dedicated efforts to prevent suicide among young people; and
         WHEREAS, In 2012, Cheryl Duncan established the foundation in
  loving memory of her daughter, Ashley Jadine Duncan, who tragically
  died by suicide at the age of 17; the nonprofit strives to raise
  awareness of the issue of youth suicide, to reverse the stigma of
  mental illness, to promote the responsible use of social media, and
  to provide assistance to those affected by suicide; and
         WHEREAS, Suicide is a leading cause of death for individuals
  ages 15 to 24 as well as college students; approximately every 13
  minutes, another life is lost to suicide in the United States;
  community involvement and support are key to reducing the incidence
  of suicide among teens and young adults, and through education,
  outreach, community events, scholarships, and other services, the
  Ashley Jadine Foundation is equipping citizens with the tools
  necessary to ensure that those in crisis receive the help they need;
  and
         WHEREAS, Through its tireless efforts, the Ashley Jadine
  Foundation is making a lasting and positive difference in the lives
  of countless youth and families across the Greater Houston area,
  and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing the organization for its
  myriad contributions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor the Ashley Jadine
  Foundation on the occasion of its sixth annual Health Fair and 5K
  Walk and extend to all those associated with the organization
  sincere appreciation for their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
