R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Mittie Miller has been inducted into the 2023
  San Marcos Women's Hall of Fame; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1984, the San Marcos Women's Hall of
  Fame has grown to include more than 140 local residents; criteria
  for selection include performing volunteer work in multiple areas
  of service, meeting the needs of the community, demonstrating
  initiative, influencing positive change, and going above and beyond
  the call of duty; and
         WHEREAS, Mittie Miller has worked tirelessly to foster unity,
  empowerment, and opportunity within the city's Black community; a
  resident of San Marcos since 1965, she has championed social and
  economic advancement as a member of the boards of numerous
  organizations; she was vice chair of the San Marcos Housing
  Authority Board of Commissioners, and for many years, she was a San
  Marcos Chamber of Commerce ambassador; through her service on the
  board of Hands of Hope, a volunteer-run ministry, she facilitated
  the teaching of job and life skills to undereducated women in Hays
  County; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to revitalizing the Dunbar Historic
  District, Ms. Miller has been an active organizer and volunteer for
  events benefiting the Dunbar Heritage Association; she has given
  generously of her time and talents in behalf of the Harvey Miller
  Day of Service, Juneteenth, Black History Month, Kwanzaa, and the
  MLK March; moreover, she has increased awareness and appreciation
  of Black culture through numerous endeavors, even making time to
  coordinate a line dance class; and
         WHEREAS, Mittie Miller has set an inspiring example of
  volunteerism and civic leadership, and the citizens of San Marcos
  are fortunate indeed to count her among their fellow residents;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Mittie Miller
  on her induction into the San Marcos Women's Hall of Fame and extend
  to her sincere appreciation for her contributions to her community;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Miller as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
