R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The family and friends of Cody Ryan Perez of Corpus
  Christi suffered an immeasurable loss with his death on August 13,
  2023, at the age of 29; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Corpus Christi on December 3, 1993, Cody
  Perez was the son of Cynthia Perez; he was raised with the help of
  his mother's family and later formed a relationship with his
  brother, Fermin; passionate about baseball from an early age, he
  played shortstop for the Trojans at Foy H. Moody High School, and he
  graduated 10th in his class in 2012; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Perez went on to attend New Mexico Junior
  College on a full baseball scholarship, and he continued his
  baseball career and education at Coastal Bend College, earning an
  Associate of Science degree in Kinesiology; at Texas A&M
  International University, he was a member of the Dustdevils
  baseball team and received a Bachelor of Science degree in
  Kinesiology with a minor in Biology; and
         WHEREAS, In 2016, Mr. Perez embarked on a career in education
  at Bishop High School; a gifted mentor, he excelled in teaching
  Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and in coaching football and
  baseball; along the way, he earned a Master's degree in Educational
  Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Texas at
  Arlington, and he also began working toward his Administrative
  certification; and
         WHEREAS, Beloved for his smile and his sense of humor,
  Mr. Perez enjoyed engaging in friendly competition; he was an avid
  supporter of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys, and he was
  devoted to his Labradoodle, Dansby James; and
         WHEREAS, Cody Perez touched the lives of everyone around him
  in ways beyond measure, and although he is profoundly missed, he
  will forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Cody Ryan Perez and extend sincere condolences to all those who
  mourn his passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cody Perez.
