R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Steven A. Shamlian of Harlingen on August 31, 2023, at |
|
the age of 71; and |
|
WHEREAS, Steve Shamlian was born in 1952; blessed with a |
|
devoted family, he enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Liz, |
|
and he treasured time spent with his friends and loved ones; and |
|
WHEREAS, A skilled pitmaster, Mr. Shamlian was involved in |
|
the International Barbeque Cookers Association, and he competed |
|
with his wife in numerous barbecue contests across Texas; among |
|
their many achievements, they won the Buddy Breitschopf Memorial |
|
Award at the First Shot Cook-Off in 2019; in addition, Mr. Shamlian |
|
was engaged in politics, and he was a staunch advocate for |
|
conservative values; he participated in the Rio Grande |
|
Valley-Harlingen MAGA Meetup and Trump Train in 2020; and |
|
WHEREAS, While the death of Steve Shamlian brings |
|
immeasurable sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a |
|
legacy that will long be cherished by all those who held him dear; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|
of Steven A. Shamlian and extend sincere condolences to all who |
|
mourn his passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Steve |
|
Shamlian. |
