R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, For the first time in school history, the Robstown
  High School marching band has qualified for the University
  Interscholastic League State Marching Band Contest; and
         WHEREAS, The Cotton Picker Band earned advancement to the
  state competition as a result of an outstanding showing at the Class
  4A Area E Marching Contest at Calallen High School in Corpus Christi
  on October 21, 2023, finishing ninth in the preliminary round and
  sixth in the finals among 36 competitors; and
         WHEREAS, Guided by marching band director Charles Cabrera,
  the Robstown High band will face off against the top marching bands
  in Texas at the state contest, which is being held at the Alamodome
  in San Antonio on November 1, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, The talented young performers of the Robstown High
  Cotton Picker Band have distinguished themselves through their hard
  work and dedication, and their recognition as one of the best
  marching bands in Texas is a source of tremendous pride to their
  school and their community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Robstown
  High School Cotton Picker Band on advancing to the 2023 UIL 4A Open
  Class State Marching Band Contest and extend to its members sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the band as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
