R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Our communities draw immeasurable strength from
  individuals such as the Reverend Allen Gene Madison II of DeSoto,
  who has benefited his fellow citizens through his contributions as
  a spiritual and business leader; and
         WHEREAS, Called to the ministry in the early 1980s, Reverend
  Madison became the pastor of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in
  Dallas; he led the church with conviction and compassion for nearly
  four decades until his retirement in 2020; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to guiding his congregation, Reverend
  Madison has worked in the funeral industry for 60 years; he began
  his career in 1963 as a summer employee with McGowan Funeral Home in
  Dallas, and he went on to serve as manager and senior vice president
  for Singing Hills Funeral Home before starting Evergreen Memorial
  Funeral Home and Flower Shop in 1996; the enterprise has since
  expanded to encompass a location in Terrell, a pre-need company
  called Heritage Relations, and the Emerald Center event venue;
  moreover, the business has established a scholarship program for
  area students; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, this esteemed Texan graduated
  from Madison High School and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army;
  he holds a degree in business administration from El Centro College
  and a bachelor's degree in theology from Carolina University; and
         WHEREAS, Reverend Madison currently lives in DeSoto with his
  wife of 49 years, Florence; they take great pride in their two
  children, Elliott and Karissa, and three grandchildren, Marloh,
  Zoi, and Mark Anthony; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his life and career, Allen
  Madison has inspired and uplifted countless people, and it is
  indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor the Reverend Allen
  Gene Madison II for his achievements and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Reverend Madison as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
