R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The observance of GO TEXAN Year in 2024 provides a |
|
|
welcome opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Texas |
|
|
Department of Agriculture GO TEXAN program and its success in |
|
|
promoting Texas agricultural products within the state, across the |
|
|
country, and around the world; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texas leads the nation in number of farms and |
|
|
ranches, and agriculture is the state's second largest industry, |
|
|
contributing over 4.3 million jobs and $159 billion in direct |
|
|
economic impact; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The GO TEXAN program supports local agriculture, |
|
|
economic growth, consumer awareness, and sustainability, while |
|
|
also promoting the state's distinctive culture and culinary |
|
|
offerings; GO TEXAN partners with agricultural producers, |
|
|
commodity organizations, cooperatives, service providers, and |
|
|
small businesses with the goal of showcasing products, services, |
|
|
and companies that are Texas made and Texas proud; currently, the |
|
|
initiative encompasses 2,040 partners across the state, of which |
|
|
96.5 percent would recommend the program to a friend or colleague; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the past quarter century, the GO TEXAN program |
|
|
has provided vital support to the state's farming and ranching |
|
|
businesses, and it is indeed deserving of recognition for its many |
|
|
achievements; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 25th |
|
|
anniversary of the Texas Department of Agriculture GO TEXAN program |
|
|
and honor all those associated with the initiative and with Texas |
|
|
agriculture during this milestone year; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the program as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
